The one about the giants of the sky
Safiin is in awe..
watched the documentary of the Airbus A380 just now
the 3rd installation.
super cool lar..
in case you've been living under a rock...
the A380 is the biggest plane in the world.
how big?
the boeing 747 could sit a max of over 400 passengers
but the A380 could sit 853 passengers
in full economy class configurations.
previous ep was about putting it together.
the fuselage, wings and other parts were manufactured
in england, spain, france n germany
but the assembly was to be done in toulouse france.
getting the parts to toulouse posed a big prob as it is.
its too huge for their beluga,
if i might add, looks super duper weird,
and they ended up being shipped, waterly. hehe
n then driven for 3 nights to finally get to the warehouse.
wat a sight.
in this ep, it was the postassembly stage.
everything's been assembled and it's ready for its maiden flight.
its 4 engines were fired up for the first time..
final checks on the plane was done
and then it was brought to the skies.
woahhh....
seriously i cant wait for it to finally be ready
and delivered to the airlines that have bought it.
SIA!!!
and i wanna fly in one!
anyways,
i remembered a few yrs back..
me and zal were discussing...
if an f1 car and a plane were to compete
who's faster?
of course the plane lar..
but wat about on the runway
as the plane is about to take off?..
i dunno about other planes
but it was announced just now during the documentary
that the a380's took off at 170knots.
lets see....
1knot = 1.85200 kilometers per hour
so 170knots = 314.84km/h!!
so guess it comes down to acceleration...
who can get over 300km/h faster..
according to wiki,
the renault R26,
with the restrictions set upon all f1 cars by the FIA,
to reduce speed - increase driver safety,
could go from 0 to 300km/h in 8.4s.
as for the a380, i have no idea...
but one thing's for sure..
it is the biggest plane out there..
